W/Studio Architects is proud to have Steinway & Sons as their client for an exciting renovation of their (2) Piano Selection Rooms, located at 1 Steinway Place, Astoria, Queens, NY. Steinway grand pianos are the gold standard of musical instruments, representing 170 years of family tradition and dedication to craftsmanship.
Much like Steinway & Sons believes the piano is an expression of timeless elegance, style, and beauty, W/Studio Architects are working alongside prominent interior designers and acoustical engineers to ensure the company’s unparalleled standards are maintained. The project scope is centered around the interior renovations of two piano selection rooms, offices, conference rooms, and supporting interior spaces.
The existing building has presented some inherent challenges with confined ceiling spaces and acoustical requirements that W/Studio Architects are working with various consultants to overcome. Special care was taken to integrate state-of-the-art mechanical, humidification and lighting systems, with the old-world craftsmanship that is the signature of the Steinway & Sons brand.
The WSA- led design team has prepared a feasibility study and issued Design Concept drawings to the client and has obtained preliminary construction budgets for a phased approach. Steinway & Sons has not initiated the subsequent design phases for the project.
